Terms and Conditions for Carpet Cleaning Paddington
These Terms and Conditions apply to all carpet cleaning services provided by Carpetcleaning Paddington and any related cleaning work arranged with us. By making a booking, the customer confirms that they have read, understood, and agreed to these terms. They are intended to set out the basis on which we deliver services, manage appointments, handle payments, address cancellations, and comply with relevant UK requirements. In these terms, references to “we”, “us”, and “our” mean the service provider, and references to “you” and “your” mean the customer or person arranging the service.
Our services may include carpet cleaning, upholstery cleaning, stain treatment, deodorising, and related spot cleaning where agreed in advance. These terms apply whether the appointment is made by telephone, email, online enquiry, or any other booking method we may offer. We reserve the right to update these terms from time to time, and the version in force at the time your booking is confirmed will apply to that booking unless a change is required by law.
Booking Process
When you request a service from Carpet Cleaning Paddington, we may ask for details such as the type of flooring, room sizes, fibre type if known, stain concerns, accessibility, parking arrangements, and any special instructions. This information helps us provide a suitable estimate and assign the correct cleaning method. A booking is not confirmed until we have accepted it and, where applicable, received any required deposit or advance payment.
All bookings are subject to availability. We will use reasonable efforts to attend at the agreed time, but appointment times are estimates and may be affected by travel conditions, equipment issues, job complexity, or circumstances beyond our control. If we need to change a booking, we will aim to notify you as soon as reasonably practicable and arrange an alternative appointment. You agree to ensure that access is available at the scheduled time and that the areas to be cleaned are made reasonably ready for the service.
Before work begins, you must tell us about any pre-existing damage, colour loss, previous spillages, fragile fibres, hidden stains, loose seams, lifting edges, or repairs. We are not responsible for limitations caused by undisclosed conditions. If, on arrival, we consider that the requested work is unsafe, unsuitable, or likely to cause damage due to the condition of the carpet or surrounding area, we may refuse to proceed or may modify the service. In that case, any call-out fee, deposit, or reasonable administrative charge may still apply where permitted by law and where the issue was not caused by us.
Payments
Unless agreed otherwise in writing, payment is due on completion of the service on the day of cleaning. We may accept cash, card payment, bank transfer, or other methods we specify from time to time. For larger or repeat bookings, we may require a deposit, partial prepayment, or written acceptance of a quotation before reserving the appointment. Any deposit paid will be offset against the total price unless the booking is cancelled in a way that allows us to retain part or all of that deposit under these terms.
Prices may be provided as estimates or quotations based on the information you give us. If the actual condition, size, or complexity of the work differs from what was described, the final price may need to be adjusted. For example, unusually heavy soiling, extensive stain treatment, additional rooms, or extra time required due to restricted access may increase the cost. We will usually explain any material price change before continuing where it is reasonably possible to do so. Unless stated otherwise, all prices include labour and standard equipment but exclude any unusual parking, toll, or access charges that are not reasonably avoidable.
Cancellations and Rescheduling
You may cancel or reschedule a booking by giving us reasonable notice. Cancellations made with sufficient notice will normally not attract a charge, although any non-refundable deposit may be retained if this was clearly stated at the time of booking. If you cancel at short notice, fail to provide access, or are not present where your attendance is required, we may charge a cancellation fee to cover lost time and administrative costs. The amount of any fee will be reasonable and proportionate to the loss incurred.
If we need to cancel or postpone the appointment because of illness, weather, equipment failure, staff availability, or another event beyond our control, we will try to offer a new date as soon as practicable. We are not responsible for indirect losses arising from a necessary cancellation or delay, provided we have acted reasonably. If you ask us to delay or pause the service once work has started, additional charges may apply where this creates extra labour, travel, or scheduling costs.
Liability for loss or damage is limited to the extent permitted by law. We will take reasonable care when providing our services, but carpet cleaning can sometimes reveal or worsen existing issues, especially where fibres are worn, colourfastness is limited, or prior cleaning attempts have damaged the material. We are not liable for pre-existing defects, normal wear and tear, shrinkage caused by hidden manufacturing faults, or any change in appearance that results from a property’s prior condition rather than our negligence.
Where we are found legally responsible for direct damage caused by our negligence, our liability will generally be limited to the reasonable cost of repair or replacement of the affected area, taking into account age, condition, and depreciation. We do not exclude liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, fraud, fraudulent misrepresentation, or any other liability that cannot be excluded under UK law. We are not liable for loss of profit, loss of business, loss of opportunity, or any indirect or consequential loss.
Customer Responsibilities
You are responsible for removing small or fragile items, valuables, ornaments, and any objects that may obstruct cleaning before our arrival, unless we have agreed to handle those items as part of the service. You should also ensure that electrical access, water access where needed, and a safe working environment are available. If furniture needs to be moved, you must tell us in advance whether it is suitable to move and whether it is empty or contains delicate contents. We may decline to move heavy, unstable, or valuable furniture at our discretion.
You must also inform us of any pets, children, vulnerable individuals, or site restrictions that could affect safe working. If you fail to provide accurate information or do not cooperate with reasonable requests, we may suspend the service until the issue is resolved, and any resulting delay may be chargeable. Carpetcleaning Paddington is entitled to rely on the information you provide when planning the service, and we are not responsible for problems caused by incomplete, inaccurate, or late information from you.
Waste, Water, and Environmental Regulations
We aim to carry out all services in compliance with applicable UK environmental, waste, and water handling requirements. Any waste removed as part of the cleaning process, including residue, disposable cloths, or minor soiled material generated by our work, will be handled responsibly and in accordance with applicable regulations. Waste water, cleaning solutions, and extracted contamination must not be discharged in a way that breaches local or national rules. Where necessary, we may use containment methods, specialist extraction, or controlled disposal procedures.
You must not ask us to dispose of materials that are prohibited, hazardous, or outside the agreed scope of cleaning unless we have expressly confirmed in writing that we can do so lawfully. If contaminated items, biological matter, sharp objects, or other regulated waste are discovered, we may stop work or require additional precautions and charges. We reserve the right to refuse tasks that would place us in breach of waste handling requirements or any other applicable legal duty. Any packaging, old cleaning products, or non-service related rubbish remains your responsibility unless agreed otherwise.
We use cleaning products and methods that we consider reasonably suitable for domestic and commercial carpet care, but some fibres, dyes, or finishes may react unpredictably. For that reason, we may perform a test area before continuing with the main work. If a test indicates a risk of adverse reaction, we may recommend a different method or limit the service. Any advice we give about drying times, ventilation, aftercare, or traffic restrictions is provided in good faith, but final results can vary depending on fabric type, humidity, and prior treatment history.
Any complaint about the service should be raised as soon as reasonably possible after the work is completed, so we can inspect the issue and, where appropriate, arrange a remedy. If a follow-up visit is justified, our first response may be to re-clean the affected area or take another reasonable corrective step. This does not affect your statutory rights. You must allow us a reasonable opportunity to investigate and, if necessary, correct a genuine problem before arranging third-party repairs or replacement, except where urgent action is required to prevent further loss.
These terms do not create any partnership, agency, or employment relationship between us and you. If any part of these Terms and Conditions is found to be unlawful or unenforceable, the remaining provisions will continue in full force. No failure or delay by us in enforcing any right will operate as a waiver of that right. Any variation to these terms must be agreed in writing unless we publish an updated version that applies lawfully to future bookings.
The contract between you and Carpetcleaning Paddington is governed by the laws of England and Wales. Any dispute or claim arising out of or in connection with the service, these Terms and Conditions, or any related booking shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales, unless mandatory consumer law provides otherwise. Nothing in these terms affects your rights under applicable consumer legislation.
By confirming a booking, allowing us to begin work, or making payment for the service, you acknowledge that you have read these Terms and Conditions and agree to be bound by them. These terms are designed to provide a fair and transparent basis for using our carpet cleaning services while respecting your rights and our obligations. If any issue is not expressly covered here, it will be addressed in a reasonable manner consistent with UK law and standard industry practice.
